Horror Movies: The Big Three (2024)

These top three big original horror movies have been watched continuously by viewers. Halloween (1978), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), and Scream (1996) are classics that have been popular amongst people, especially during October.

Halloween (1978) started off with an already gruesome beginning. It is a horrifying slasher film that stars the character, Michael Myers played by Nick Castle and Laurie Strode played by Jamie Lee Curtis. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) is a horror movies starring Nancy Thompson, played by Heather Langenkamp and her friends that are having violent nightmares and are being terrorized in their dreams by a character named Freddy Kreugar, played by Robert Englund. Scream (1996) is a slasher horror film of a teenage girl, Sidney Prescotti played by Neve Campbell that is being tormented by a serial killer known as Ghostface played by Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard.

Students were asked if they’ve watched these classic horror movies and which one was their favorite. A student by the name of Alejandro Rodriguez at Hughson High said, “Halloween actually had a story line but I liked the killer from Scream because of his funny costume.” Halloween (1978) was shot in the span of 20 days in the spring of 1978. Jaeda Rodriguez, another student at Hughson High said, “Definitely A Nightmare on Elm Street because first of all it was really scary and Johnny Depp is in it.” Wes Craven the director of A Nightmare on Elm Street says the idea came from a series of articles that he read in the LA Times about teenagers who were terrified of sleeping, and died in their sleep due to horrific nightmares.
